Faith In Self

Mark 11:22: And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.

Jeremiah 17:5 Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

That would include trusting in self. The state of the natural man is to believe in himself rather than God. That is sin and idolatry. If he continues to believe in himself all his days on earth, he will be condemned.

Proverbs 14:12: There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Isaiah 64:6: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Proverbs 3:5: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Jeremiah 10:23: O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.

John 15:5: I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

The only way that a man can do anything righteous is to have God working His will in and through the man.

Philippians 2:12-13: Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

A very wise man said that every ray of sunshine that touches our earth has the sun at the other end of it and that every bit of love that touches men has God at the other end of it. It is also true that every bit of good that happens comes from God.

When we receive Jesus into our hearts, He makes us new creatures and begins to do His righteous work in and through us. He puts the Holy Spirit in us and the fruit of the Spirit begins to flow out of the new creatures that He has made us.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

John 7:38: He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
